Diane Warren Is Still Pissed About Lady Gaga Not Getting An Academy Award, June 2016, GagaINspace News And Gossip.

Diane Warren still isn’t over how this year’s Academy Awards turned out. During a recent stop at Larry King Now, the veteran songwriter argues that Lady Gaga, not Sam Smith, should have won this year’s Oscar for Best Original Song. Of course, Diane is being biased. She and Gaga co-wrote The Hunting Ground’s “Til It Happens to You,” which was nominated along with Sam’s Spectre theme “Writing’s On the Wall.” But when host Larry King said, “I think [the audience] thought you’d win,” Diane agreed. “I think everybody thought that, including me.” “What did win?” “That Sam Smith song from James Bond that no one really heard,” Diane said. “You know, I think it was shocking as well. I mean, I don’t mean no one heard it. … I think the fact is, my song is kind of, it had such a life of its own, and I think it’ll last a long time.” “The Writing’s On the Wall” peaked at #71 at the Billboard Hot 100 last fall, though it did become the first James Bond theme to top the UK charts. Meanwhile, following her Oscars performance, “Til It Happens to You” entered the Hot 100 at #95 this spring.
